Bicycles Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for people who build and repair bicycles, people who train cycling, or commute on bicycles. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Please, could somebody who knows about threads of pedals look here:

http://physics.stackexchange.com/questions/6488/why-are-bicycle-pedal-threads-handedness-left-on-the-left-and-right-on-the-right

The discussion is about how and why threads at pedals are left and right turn at right and left pedal. A text from wikipedia was cited, but that is wrong, I think. We needed a kind of expert referee there :=)

Thanks!

He Georg and welcome to bicycles.SE. Could you please expand your question - what do you actually want to know? Is there some problem you're trying to solve? Or do you just want someone who knows about bibyles to confirm that pedals are threaded as described? Currently I could simply respond "yes" and that would answer your question. – Мסž Mar 7 '11 at 20:56
At the very least, add some detail as to why this is actually a question for bicycle.SE - just linking to another SE site is only borderline interesting. After all, the search function will find it anyway ... – Unsliced Mar 7 '11 at 21:42
@moz right, a "referee" is needed. What do You mean with "yes"? Is Ted Bunn (from Wiki) right or am I? – Georg Mar 7 '11 at 21:49

@Georg: I don't see a question here; I see a link to a question somewhere else. As-is, that makes this off-topic, though I think you could edit it into an on-topic question. – freiheit Mar 7 '11 at 23:28

It's difficult to tell what is being asked here. This question is ambiguous, vague, incomplete, overly broad, or rhetorical and cannot be reasonably answered in its current form. For help clarifying this question so that it can be reopened, see the FAQ.

The pedal does turn counter to the crank, but remember its is on a set of bearings. The spindle itself turns minimally (until the threads bite fully) in the direction of the cranks travel, therefore it tightens over time as you pedal forward.

It's more complicated than that. – whatsisname Mar 7 '11 at 23:45
