The clothes you wear when riding, whether they're bike-specific or everyday.

There are lots of kinds of cycling-specific clothes:

  • Shorts can be baggy (popular with MTBers) or tight spandex (popular with road cyclists and tourers)
  • Tights and leggings cover the whole leg for harsher weather
  • Jerseys cover the torso. They can be short- or long-sleeved, tight or baggy. Thin, breathable material is common, but there are thicker, warmer ones for hot weather. They often have pockets at the back for access while riding.
  • Arm or leg warmers are worn with shorts and short-sleeved jerseys in colder weather.
  • Waterproof jackets, trousers, and overshoes keep other clothes dry in wet weather.
  • Special-purpose shoes might include cleats for "clipless" pedals, and often have stiffer soles for better power transfer.
  • Hats and other headgear protect the head from hot or cold weather, or rain. have their own tag.

Utility and urban cyclists tend to just wear everyday clothes, and questions about these are appropriate for this tag too.
