Bicycles Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for people who build and repair bicycles, people who train cycling, or commute on bicycles. It's 100% free, no registration required.

FEM stands for finite element modeling. I need some open-sourced software for designing a bicycle, anyone with good idea?

My earlier more broad question, targeting cheap prototypes here, where an idea to FEM arised.

I would think this is more of a software/math problem than a bicycle problem, and might be better asked on one of the other forums -- SuperUser, or perhaps Physics or Mathematics. – Daniel R Hicks Jan 8 '12 at 14:02
Yeah, unfortunately there is no SO civil/mechanical engineering forum (though there may well be some non-SO forums). But, aside from something like the Reynolds package, you're not going to find anything bicycle-specific -- the individual manufacturers no doubt are very protective of their design software. – Daniel R Hicks Jan 8 '12 at 14:34
