comment What is the best way to stop and restart at a stoplight?
"You can position yourself a bit behind the stop line (if possible) and take off on mid-orange, so you're already going when you pass the line at green." ... and risk getting broadsided by a car running the red light.

comment Why do some road bikes cost more than motorbikes? Are they grossly overpriced?
The more accurate comparison is with Grand Prix motorcycles, which seem to go for about $35,000: gizmag.com/honda-nsf250r-moto3-grand-prix/18811

revised What cassete do I need to run with a compact crankset (50/36), to equal the same gearing as running a standard crankset (53/39) with a 11-28 cassete?

comment Roof Rack vs. Trunk Rack for Sedan
Would you consider getting a hitch installed and using a hitch rack? The added bonus is being able to pull a small trailer.

I ride the exact same bike, a Specialized Sirius Sport, on packed limestone daily without trouble to me or the machine.

comment How long will a battery last in a Garmin GSC 10?
Agreed, I don't think I ever replaced the battery on my old wired transmitter. Probably over 5000 miles. I'm not sure what to expect from the wireless transmitter, especially because it's transmitting from the rear wheel. Maybe more powerful = shorter battery life.

This is certainly going to vary state to state.

@mattnz The original article (jap.physiology.org/content/60/1/95.abstract) says that the apparent detraining after 2 weeks is due to a decrease is plasma volume, and is almost entirely reversible. So I would argue that there isn't an actual loss of fitness.

"anything 3 days or more and you will noticeably lose endurance fitness" -- Are there studies that have shown this?
