Reducing saddle bounce when increasing cadence A similar idea is riding on rollers. If you bounce too much you fall off :-) |

Adivce on what to do next with crunching / slipping gears I've had one from the 'odd stuff' - loose pulley wheel. |

While pedaling standing up, bike crank gives in as if shifting, what is causing this? Even a loosely clamped back wheel, although that's unlikely back from the bike shop. |

Pins and needles in my fingers after long rides I was another elbow-rester before I worked out it was causing me problems, I wonder how common it is? |

What am I supposed to do when my chain falls off? I find the multi-tool chain breakers a little fiddly for joining but fine for breaking. They work well in combination with something like an SRAM Powerlink. |

Pins and needles in my fingers after long rides If you're not too heavy you could reduce tire pressure too. |

How do I taper for a century+ ride? +1 I forgot my helmet :-( |

Should I get a reflective jacket/coat, or more lighting and reflective strips for the bike? +1 for ankle straps. The up and down motion screams bicycle :-) |

When or how often should I replace my bike helmet? I remember reading that the Fraunhofer Institute were developing helmets that released bad smells when damaged. I don't know if it ever went anywhere. |

Is there something particularly wrong with exclusively riding a mountain bike in a city setting? Entertaining answer. I'd recommend trying out a range of tire pressures. Having lost 30kg cycling in the last 3 years I've found dropping pressure has been beneficial as my ride was getting a little 'bouncy'. |

How much of a difference do Toe Pedal Clips make in comparison to Platform Pedals? I remember falling over with toe clips trying to pull my foot out when I had panniers on. Embarrassing. |

How can I check tire pressure without a pressure gauge? That would make tire go bang :-) |

How do I calculate the diameter of a chainring from the number of teeth? And hope it's not elliptical :-) |

How to use drop handlebars properly? Also, when on the hoods, I tend to alternate between holding between my thumb and index finger or just using the hollow between my index fingers' lowest knuckle and the next knuckle up. |

How can I avoid crashes on my urban commute? Tramlines and CBD sections especially I'd favour Russell over Swanston. Too many trams and careless pedestrians on Swanston. |

In which orientation should a front wheel be installed? And if you have a magnet for a bicycle computer it will want to be within range of the sensor. |

Are there any bicycle computers that will log ride data? Yes. It shows current cadence and max/min/avg but doesn't sample it. |

Are there any bicycle computers that will log ride data? I'd be completely happy with my ROX9 if it logged cadence instead of temperature. |

What are the most important things to bring on a ride? @wdypx22 +1 for backup lights. I've only had to use my backup about twice in 5 years but I definitely appreciated it. A Leatherman or pocket knife with pliers can be a useful supplement to a multitool too. |

Why recover with carbohydrates, instead of with protein? and electrolytes.. |
