Sorry what does "randonneur" mean? I am still on the fence if this is too localized.

comment Should I get a reflective jacket/coat, or more lighting and reflective strips for the bike?
I always think that the backward facing light is the most important thing on your bike. I always spend twice as much on my back light than my front light.

comment Sandals in the winter? Other winter footwear options?
I am not sure how cold it gets there in the winter, but if there is snow slush I would defiantly not want to be out in sandals. Your feet will be wet wet wet!

@Unsliced: The question was why do people read single speed bikes. Fixed bikes are a kind of single speed. The question is not comparing them.

comment Really big panniers and other baggage
I always have this problem too! Regardless of how many panniers and backpacks I have I always buy just a little bit too much. It does not matter how much space I have!

comment Can I get smaller tires without changing my rims?
I would also note that if you want to get better performance, make sure that your tires are always pumped to the max. The harder your tire is the faster you will go.

comment What tips do you have for making temporary “get me home” repairs?
I actually have zip ties in my emergency repair kit! Way more useful than tape because of their size/weight.
