Self-made studded tyre with glue? May work great for the rear tire but it will not help to keep your front tire from sliding out. Zip ties will provide some forward/backward bite but zero side to side bite. |

What are some alternatives to fruitlessly ringing my bell at a motorist? @KenHiatt - Required on dark bike paths. Probably not while on the roads as your light will be about the same brightness as car headlights. |

Would like to custom-build a bike but I'm not sure on what parts to buy Great answer. Interesting process. I would be curious to see a spec list from your bike and what you would consider to be a similarly priced new bike. I would be interested in building up a new bike using your method but am a bit skeptical that it is actually a good way to save money. |

29" wheels - what advantage do they provide over smaller wheels? Currently cost is another factor. This is caused largely because 29'' wheels are the new thing on the market. |

V-brakes during winter? I find that my pads get burned through at 4x the speed but otherwise they work acceptably. |

Best bike lock Couldn't you cut it with two bold cutter cuts? Seems possible to cut with bold cutters. Also skeptical if it is harder to cut than a Kryptonite lock. |

Why choose a traditional frame over an aerodynamically streamlined frame? Plus it seems to me like you should optimize the wind resistance of your body before your frame. Things like: wearing tight clothing, lowering your handlebars, using areobars, getting a more airo helmet seem like cheaper, easier alternatives that are not permanent investments. |
