I design and develop software on a Microsoft platform for an EPiServer based media company. I spend much of my spare time researching, not just technologies - subject matters well outside computer science. I began life writing 6510 assembler then switched studies to become a professional economist, before returning to programming.

When should cyclists use pedestrian facilities? I needed an answer to whether it was legal for me to ride on the pavement or not. All routes I used to take to work were bottlenecked by the A6, which always gave me a feel of danger. |

Arguments for/against bike lanes? I have not found much use for bike lanes because motorists ignore and use these too. I suggest that you use the pavement if necessary, especially if you are being forced off the road by motorists who are ignoring your presence or do not even see you. I emphasise safety and to ride on the pavement with caution. Also, I recommend that you memorise an insulting rejoinder to pedestrians who complain that you are using the pavements. Always remember that these could be ignorant people who are unaware of how the dangerous the roads are for cyclists and could be guilty of parking on the pavement. |

Which footwear is the safest for summer cycling? This makes sense; however, it is odd that you say 5 mph. Every ride I did yesterday had an average above 5 mph and there were no issues: endomondo.com/workouts/9542929 |
