I think I can now say that I am an experienced rider and I wouldn't go as far as to say "bike mechanic," more like a bike fixer-upper since I have never actually been paid, in money, to do it. I currently don't own a car so my bicycle is my main form of transportation which means that it always then must be in perfect working order; something I have been working on achieving over the past 3 years.

Winter commuting - how to keep warm? From what I can see, pun intended, the only problem with the njnjaclava is that if you are wearing glasses it could be a problem because it directs the airflow up fogging up your glasses. This is negated by either wearing contacts or pulling the mouth piece down under your chin. |

What are some ways to keep biking when you have a car? I wish I could give the answer to a few of the answers here. I gave it to you though because you hit the nail on the head. "Biking should be simple." I am going to attach my rack to my regular bike so that I can keep a bag on it at all times with all my gear. I know it will make it heavier, but I think I am past that phase in my bicycling life at this point. I am not going to race. I just want to get out and ride for the fun of it. Since forming this question I have got on my bike more because of the answers and suggestions posted here. Thanks everyone. |

Winter commuting - how to keep warm? Go for the NinjaClava. (altrec.com/outdoor-research/ninjaclava) It has more coverage and can easily be pulled down to not cover your mouth. Also interestingly it has small supports around the mouth to prevent it from caving in when you breath in. |

What do you call the crankset system type on the Sram Apex? Kind of. So Shamino calls them Outboard bottom brackets. I was wondering if there was a standard name across the industry. Kind of like the square tapered bottom bracket is always the same. |
