I'm guessing that it's the original seat post because I've owned two of these bikes (an '83 and '84 model) second hand and both came with a similarly length post. I've since fitted a considerably longer post with nothing blocking it.

Yeah, it's Reynolds 531 tubing, and I'm not quite ready to give up on it yet! I've considered Argos before for a respray and decals. Maybe this is the perfect opportunity to go for it!
