I ride for fitness, enjoyment and an easier, less stressful commute.

On weekends I ride a custom (by Kennedy's Cycle Fit) road bike with Campag gear.

To commute I ride an SE Lager fixed (love the fixie!)

With the family I ride a Shogun hybrid.

I love to tinker with my bikes and won't go to a mechanic unless it's for something advanced or unfamiliar.

Good idea... I hadn't thought of that, even though most nights I just slot my commuter into the work stand in the shed.

So you did. Oops.

Even if it doesn't slow them down, being drafted can be very frustrating. I don't like being drafted, I've even been hit from behind by a few inattentive drafters.

comment Can a front wheel have a different number of bearings on each side?
In fact wikipedia suggests that having a cage "avoids dents in the balls and has lower friction" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ball_bearing#Caged

+1 for the payment. No matter how much gear you've got with you something could go wrong necessitating a trip to the LBS, a train or taxi home.

comment Are upright conventional bicycle more comfortable than a recumbent trike over forest trails?
The question is specifically about riding on forest trails. I would interpret it as 'How does a recumbent handle bumps compared to an upright bike'?

comment Are there research graphs for the Rotor Q Ring system?
Yes and no. It's good that the sources are "independent". However, I'd be surprised if they would publish any neutral or negative research. No criticism intended, it's a good list of references. I would merely advise being sceptical.

Research on their own products might be a little biased.

comment How to significantly lower HR[avg] while improving performance output
HR[max] isn't the limit of how fast your heart can beat. It's a recommended threshold that shouldn't be exceeded due to health issues. You can exceed your HR[max] but it isn't recommended. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heart_rate#Maximum

comment Is a recumbent trike faster than a non-recumbent bicycle?
When riding an upright bike I stand up when over bumps. I'm sure my legs provide a lot more suspension than any bike suspension. So I assume (although I have no first hand experience) that it'd be bumpier on a recumbent. Might be worth a new question.

I would expect that a recumbent will not be as comfortable on forest trails.

Do you use the pad because the Halo on it's own isn't sufficient?

Okay thanks. I'd call them pads.
