I ride for fitness, enjoyment and an easier, less stressful commute.
On weekends I ride a custom (by Kennedy's Cycle Fit) road bike with Campag gear.
To commute I ride an SE Lager fixed (love the fixie!)
With the family I ride a Shogun hybrid.
I love to tinker with my bikes and won't go to a mechanic unless it's for something advanced or unfamiliar.

Will it be a problem to bike uphill with a rear pannier with books (~2lbs) I did some research and found the reason for the weird behaviour. meta.stackoverflow.com/questions/97283/…;. So when I did get @Neil right, SO was removing it. Thanks. |

Will it be a problem to bike uphill with a rear pannier with books (~2lbs) I'm definitely not suggesting panniers are not appropriate. I use them a lot and find them much more comfortable than backpacks for any more than trivial loads. Just wanted to note that it can cause issues if they are loaded up too much. By the way, I can't figure out what your username is (so I can @ mention you). Do you know what it is? |

Will it be a problem to bike uphill with a rear pannier with books (~2lbs) one downside for panniers is that they increase your unsprung weight. So if you're riding on uneven surfaces you really will notice bashing through the bumps. |

What's a good bike for daily use in New Orleans? A flat city with lots of potholes and bad roads +1 for a single speed. No gears means super low maintenance and much better quality in the rest of the bike for the price. That Kona has a very clever rear dropout... you can remove the back wheel without affecting the chain tension. Nice! |

Metal seat post with carbon fiber frame? @rsecca I would tend to agree that a carbon bike is not likely to be the best fit for use that involves carting a lot of gear around. Buy a more solid 'tourer' style bike for when you want to fit your paniers. |

Recommendation on new $400-500 hybrid I don't like suspension forks because their extra weight makes steering a lot less responsive. The bike feels heavier and not as manoeuvrable and a lot less fun. If you're on the road most of the time I would get solid forks. |

Affordable GPS with maps? @Piskvor - yep, I agree it's only affordable if you already have an iPhone but if you do I think it's worth considering. I have friends I ride with that keep their iPhone on the bars in the case I linked to. |

Affordable GPS with maps? @ChrisW Ahh, I see. Yep, I agree that the wheel sensors couldn't assist the GPS. |

How to replace stripped spoke nipples? @moz I definitely agree that it's not easy to describe, as you'll note with my terrible attempt to describe it in my last comment :) Good work with the links though, that first one has a good picture showing how to adjust. I think it was worth adding, especially since the OP was assuming that it's best to adjust it from the tyre side, rather than the hub side. |

How to replace stripped spoke nipples? Also with this tool you don't need to remove the tyre, tube and rim tape. @moz, do you want to provide a bit more detail about how the tool is used, specifically using the shape of the spoke nipple that is protruding from the rim? |

Affordable GPS with maps? @ChrisW GPS is pretty good for a car, because you're typically travelling at higher speeds and the GPS inaccuracy is less significant. However on a bike, at lower speeds, GPS inaccuracy will be a much larger proportion of your speed so the difference is much more pronounced |
