Clacking noise as right crank goes 'over the top' once per revolution Check the simple stuff too. I recently had the exact same problem with my new bike - a clack every revolution when in the small ring (same pedal position as you too!) - and it turned out to be the front derailleur cable end hitting the crank arm. Just bend the cable away from the crank. |

Converting a MTB to a Road Bike Smooth tires first (friction and noise), then improve the engine (you :-). IMO, weight is too costly to address, gearing not necessary to address. |

7-speed MTB cassette on 8/9-speed wheel hub, where does spacer go? I accepted zenbike's answer as most correct for my actual question. As to the implied question "why did the proper placement result in incorrect engagement", I think lantius was right: LBS missed some basic incompatibility between old cassette, new wheel, and proper spacer. I took the parts back to the LBS, and they ground down the spacer to make it thinner. |
