Why are bicycles considered vehicles and not “walking aid”? French traffic law consider cycles as vehicles if they have at least two wheels. Therefore unicycles are not considered vehicles. |

Recumbent, diamond-frame or trailer to move heavy things? +1 for postal bikes. One of their qualities is that the front rack is attached to the frame: it doesn't move when changing direction. |

How long should a well maintained chain last and what can I do to prolong its life? @zenbike - I changed the chain itself and the freewheel cogset. I hope to ride another 12000 km with that. One such change every four years is not that expensive. By the way, I didn't change the chain at first, just reassembled it and rode some months before changing. |

How long should a well maintained chain last and what can I do to prolong its life? I commute about 200 days a year, riding about 15 km a day, i.e., 3000 km a year. My bike is far from top-end. I clean my chain about twice a year. My chain broke after four years, or 12000 km. |

Why do cycle paths always have to be bumpy? Moreover, cycle paths need to be maintained (cut vegetation, remove rubbish) and people in charge use motorized vehicles which are heavier than bicycles. |

Locking your bike in public areas Many people want ugly bikes because they think they are not stolen. As a consequence many thieves target ugly bikes because they are easily sold (and easy to steal by the way). |

What advanced cycling skills are useful for a commuter or city rider? In my opinion, the last skills are not lesser, they are the most important. Especially the one with 18 wheelers or simply a bus or a van. 80% of lethal city bike accidents are caused by big vehicles turning right when a cycle is there. |
