comment What is a good way to keep my tires from going flat easily?
I've only had one flat with my SMP's, they shed rock and glass readily, I totally like them. The flat I got was when striking a roofing nail squarely in the middle and it jabbed right thru the Kevlar belt in the middle. Unlikely, but simple to fix.

comment What makes a folding bicycle so difficult to ride?
The ergonomics of folding bikes vary as much as full full sized diamond frames. Consider these varieties: the Dahon makes a folding 3-speed "marine" bike, optimized for salty conditions; Strida makes a triangle shaped bike that's really quick to fold, great for multi-modal transit commuting; while Bike Friday will do a bike fit and produce a bike you can tour a continent on.

I like this frame design, and I like the Neko's frame design. They make me think that should look at early 29er frames because I don't need disk. However the market on hardtail 29er frames seems pretty slim.

comment How to prevent my bike from tipping over when using just one pannier?
You can also use a lonely toe cage strap for either a wheel strap or a brake strap as well. These are pretty cheap at bike coops, or possibly available for tip at a bike shop.

I've zip-tied the bracket in place in the mean time. I know that zippies are cheap, but when its freezing out, a stray strike with my foot will bust the zippie off.

I would assume that a citrus-based cleaner (eg SimpleGreen) might help.

After getting the threads cleaned out, when you do run the bolt in there, grease the bolt threads a bit so you don't risk wasting your effort to some rust later.

comment Bicycles on Farms?
This thread on Bikeforums.net brought up some good ideas as well: bikeforums.net/showthread.php/… The description of the trike losing traction is very telling. Also, I should get to talk to my farmer friend this weekend.

comment Cleaning Cable Housing?
I love my Park Tool cable snips. I still keep them in the bag and box they were originally packaged in, as part of the ceremony of limiting their work to cables and housing.

comment Cleaning Cable Housing?
Good point about ordering housing in bulk, I re-cable my domestic fleet with enough frequency that investing in a reel of bulk housing would be worthwhile.
