How to store a bike outside and still avoid rapid decay? @amcnabb cinch it loosely, leave at least a few inches open at the front and back. If you want a form to cinch the tarp around, use the top half of a milk jug. At some point, the bike needs to get maintained, and also, it's likely going to be left out in the elements when parked street-side during a shopping trip. I don't see airflow under a tarp as real problem. |

How to store a bike outside and still avoid rapid decay? I like it. Ground splashing is a good point. That might be aliviated by placing the tires of the bike on the tarp as you start to cinch it up, then at least you could cover the drive side for the bike. |

Why do I have to keep changing positions? Also, what are you doing for a pre-ride warm up and post ride recovery...and are they consistent? As a commuter, I don't bother, but when I was increasing my commute for endurance extension, I would have benefitted from a quick jog, some stretching before the ride, and definitely stretching after the ride before I actually got home, where I wouldn't get distracted from doing that. |

Why do I have to keep changing positions? I notice that how much I sleep, my hydration level, and how much alcohol intake the previous day can all affect my riding comfort and energy level. I'm fortunate to have a road bike, a cargo bike and a lwb recumbent, so I have plenty of different positions, esp when my back is acting up. |

Tightening rear quick release stops rear wheel Well if the axle were broken, wouldn't one side of the threads rotate independently of the other? I took it out, and had to hold the axle bold under the freewheel with a crescent wrench and the opposite cone and bolt together. So, it didn't obviously feel broken. Interesting possibility, I hadn't considered it, thanks. |

Tightening rear quick release stops rear wheel Thanks, I'll give it a try. I'll have to dust off my cone wrenches. |

What makes a folding bicycle so difficult to ride? I rode a mile alongside a British couple that started on they're Friday's from San Diego in June, and were cruising thru Bellingham WA in October, still on tour. |

What is a good way to keep my tires from going flat easily? I've only had one flat with my SMP's, they shed rock and glass readily, I totally like them. The flat I got was when striking a roofing nail squarely in the middle and it jabbed right thru the Kevlar belt in the middle. Unlikely, but simple to fix. |

What makes a folding bicycle so difficult to ride? The ergonomics of folding bikes vary as much as full full sized diamond frames. Consider these varieties: the Dahon makes a folding 3-speed "marine" bike, optimized for salty conditions; Strida makes a triangle shaped bike that's really quick to fold, great for multi-modal transit commuting; while Bike Friday will do a bike fit and produce a bike you can tour a continent on. |

Low Top Tube Xtracycle Donor Frame? I like this frame design, and I like the Neko's frame design. They make me think that should look at early 29er frames because I don't need disk. However the market on hardtail 29er frames seems pretty slim. |

How to prevent my bike from tipping over when using just one pannier? You can also use a lonely toe cage strap for either a wheel strap or a brake strap as well. These are pretty cheap at bike coops, or possibly available for tip at a bike shop. |

Possible to repair a pushed in braze-on? I've zip-tied the bracket in place in the mean time. I know that zippies are cheap, but when its freezing out, a stray strike with my foot will bust the zippie off. |

How to clean out the inside threads of a braze-on? I would assume that a citrus-based cleaner (eg SimpleGreen) might help. |
