I rediscovered cycling in 2001 when I was 21 and it just made my life better. Getting to and from work and around town was no longer a struggle and I actually enjoy my commute.

Recently I've been cycling more for fun and have been going on longer rides. I'm also trying to get a bit fitter to fight all the time I've spent sitting at a desk eating biscuits. I try to service my bike a little bit, but I'm not completely confident and many jobs I end up taking it to the bike shop for.

When I'm not cycling I'm a freelance web developer sat at a desk loving what I do and trying not to eat too many biscuits. You can find me on twitter at @_richardg.

May 26	comment	Which disc brake pads do I need I'm saving up to get them replaced. Even when bike was brand new they weren't great and I've had a lot of problems with them. LBS said it would be better value to get them replaced, but was going to fit one last set of pads before splashing out.

Jan 3	comment	What is the practical advantage of disk brakes over rim brakes? I was just trying to point out that if you're used to v brakes, disk brakes won't automatically be better. There are things you need to learn, or you may have problems.
