Jan 29	comment	Do I need a separate dishing tool for building wheels with park tool TS-2.2 truing stand? Maybe I'm missing something but I think if you have a misaligned stand then flipping the wheel will only show your stand is out of alignment, not that your wheel is dished correctly/incorrectly.

I too have built wheels using the TS-2 and like you haven't needed to adjust dish when checked against my dishing tool. Bottom line is a dishing tool costs more or less the same as an alignment tool with a higher degree of accuracy per the manufacturers specs.

Jan 23	comment	How to avoid turning the spokes while tuning the wheel I saw somewhere adding little bits of tape to the spokes to act as flags. By using the above technique and flags as a visual aid you can make sure you are ending each adjustment with non-twisted spokes.

I don't know the answer to your question but if clearance is an issue, you can likely take your wheel and/or fork off and hang by handle bars if you find pulling on the shock could cause damage.

I think the original wheel may have been poorly built, or sustained major trauma which critically stressed many or all of the spokes. They are failing one by one just as they would if the wheel were old. It's hard to say without seeing the riding style, but I find it difficult to believe a 200+ lb, 60 women on a tricycle is putting the wheel through that much torture. The biggest stress is her weight which is split between 3 26" wheels. The lateral stress much be larger than on a bicycle, but it can't be that much larger.

The LBS did a quick adjustment on the brakes, and replaced the BB as I stated. There is no chain guard only the chain ring guard which is part of the crankset assembly. I don't have a torque wrench so I may need to make another LBS visit.

The noise isn't right, the vibration is too mechanical and precise and the resistance is too slight. I will check my axle lugs. In the past when I've had axle's slip the condition deteriorated rapidly and the axle position would not rebound as nicely. The issue I'm experiencing has been going on for nearly 2 weeks and seems quite stable.

In addition it should be know that "machine built" wheels are checked and re-trued in some factories anyways. I think as you noted a machine is unable to deal with unusual circumstances, and I think the number of cycles of re-truing and stressing spokes is a major player in the need for a human hand. I heartily agree with your comment about price reduction and quality.
