comment How would the “pros” bike this commute?
I've never been to Mexico so I don't know the driving culture. I do know that in the U.S. even in the most aggressive areas, it's a matter of simply occupying the space you need to in order to prevent jumpy drivers from trying to "squeeze by" when there isn't room. If you find the drivers are regularly and unabashedly running into each other, pedestrians and bikers then I would reconsider taking the lane.

Perfect explanation and great graphic showing what proper tuning looks like.

comment Crate of beer as cargo
My $1 a bottle was referencing how cheap beer is. A typical bottle of beer costs roughly $1 whereas a bottle of liquor easily costs $10 or more. Those sleeves provide more protection than is necessary on a relatively cheap item, at a much larger time cost. For more expensive liquor the sleeves make a lot of sense.

That's a lot of work to minimize noise. At around $1 per bottle I'd rather risk breaking a bottle. The cardboard solution above is easier and does the same job.

comment Do bar-ends with brake levers exist?
Depending on the bar ends you may be able to remove an end cap and use TT style brake levers which sit inside the bar ends. Failing that there are any number of bmx/mtb/etc style brake levers which have a clamp which could secure to your bar ends either lever end up or down based on how you clean up the cables.

By adjusting do you mean shifting or performing maintenance?

comment How does one ride 'no handed'?
I've actually found it's much easier to sit all the way up then just hovering over the bars. Also the "heavier" feeling the steering is the more stable it will be. My cruiser with wide handlebars and a thick tire rides no handed quite well, but I find road bikes much more challenging.

revised Do higher speed crashes result in less serious injuries.
The previous title asked for a single case whereas the body of the question asks what the general or most common case is.
