How does one ride 'no handed'? I've actually found it's much easier to sit all the way up then just hovering over the bars. Also the "heavier" feeling the steering is the more stable it will be. My cruiser with wide handlebars and a thick tire rides no handed quite well, but I find road bikes much more challenging. |

How does a bike absorb all the energy in landing from a big drop? Speaking to geometry though, all styles of bikes that take drops have a shorter seat tube and are more likely to keep their seats low to provide more room to bend at the knees. This setup is essential to the appropriate techniques and may be worth mentioning. |

This does a good job of explaining mountain bike style drops, and the concepts are similar but applied slightly differently for BMX and trials drops. Using the same "proper landing" style but exaggerated these bikes drop significant distances with little speed onto flat landings. |
