Things to consider when upgrading crankset Have you considered a cassette swap to something like a 11-28 tooth? Not as effective as a crank swap but cheaper and easier. |

What is the proper way to paint a bicycle? In addition to @ Angelos comments, If you are going to sand use progressivly finer grits to minimize scratches. Use the same brand primer the paint directions call for. Use Rustoleum primer for Rustoleum paint etc. Rustoleum used to make products specifically for metal, if they are available use them. |

Any experience about radially-laced hub flanges actually breaking? For what it is worth I recently replaced a Mavic Open Pro wheel. It was about 5 years old has about 10,000 miles on it. It was radially laced. It hit car door while going about 22mph. The wheel folded like a taco. About half the spokes bent, 5 or 6 nipples pulled through the rim. Not one hub spoke hole was damaged. If that wasn't enough abuse to damage a hub I don't think anything else would. |

How often should I change brake cables and housing? Most aerosol dry lubes uses a liquid carrier that will flush then evaporate leaving the dry lube in the housing. |

How often should I change brake cables and housing? I prefer to use "dry" type lubes in muddy, dusty, gritty enviroments. Even a light oil tends to make the grit stick to the cables. The grit gets pulled into the housing over time. |

Diamondback Sorrento for first starter bike? While at your local shop ask about used bikes. Tell them what you"ve told us and they will point you in the right direction. If they keep pushing you to spend more than you are comfortable with try another shop. They should let you take it for a real test ride. |

gluing/patching tire sidewalls? The same glue /cement that comes with a regular bike patch kit. Not being able to see the actual flaw in the tire, I would say you should replace it as soon as possible or ask your local shop to evaluate it for you. |

Where is the Tricross Sora front derailleur barrel adjuster Have you looked for an inline adjuster? It looks like a bump somewhere in the cable housing. Usually between the bars and the frame |

What are good ways to dry shoes? If you can afford the extra cost, buy an extra pair of shoes. When using the boot dryers you can use the lowest heat setting. This decreases that stiff cardboard shoe feel when they are first worn. |
