I am a developmental cognitive neuroscience researcher who studies the integration of emotion and cognition within the brain. To get that accomplished I end up working in an array of high- and low-level programming languages. I have done a little bit of everything, from microcontroller programming to web development and application programming. I primarily spend my days scripting in MATLAB and my evenings in XCode.

comment Why aren't average speeds computed over distance?
@Scott - The speed difference could be the same, but the rider's power output could vary substantially in relation to a number of factors. The best metric is probably WTHarper's suggestion of work/distance or work/time. See the graph of resistance and velocity in their post.
