comment Commercially available sprung tyres/wheels?
I do agree that the price doesn't quite match the performance. You could use it for any bike that uses 20" wheels of course, but most of them are folding. I think this design probably wouldn't work very well for 26" or 700c wheels as the springs would have to be quite large and would probably have very bad torsion stiffness.

comment Should I get a reflective jacket/coat, or more lighting and reflective strips for the bike?
I always understood "high visibility" as bright colours, but reflective clothing should be self given when cycling in the dark. I find that most shoe covers have reflectors around the zippers which is nice since the feet move and are easy to spot.

comment What sort of bottom bracket does a Trek 1.5 2011 take?
Before replacing it, try taking it apart, cleaning it thoroughly, greasing it back up and see if it works. Faster, cheaper and leaves you with that warm buzzy feeling of saving money.

comment How do I separate disc brake pads after accidentally pulling the front brake while the wheel is off?
The amount of sand and general dirt I subject my brakes to suggests a dirty screwdriver won't make much of a difference.

I ended up having a lot of head wind in Styrkeprøven, and good wheels certainly didn't hurt going over the mountains with 10-12 m/s head/side wind :)

comment Formula for Homemade sports drinks
@wdypdx22 It would be really interesting to see some empirical data on this. Maybe source for a new question? I'd like to have iced tea in my bottles during exercise.

Regarding the use of tea: Tea contains caffeine, which is diuretic. Isn't it a bad idea drinking something that makes you piss more during exercise?

comment How can I make myself and bike more visible during the day?
+1 on point 4. It can't be stressed enough. Motorists expect other motorists to be clear on what they are doing in traffic, and if cyclists do the same you will automatically avoid confusion and a lot of dangerous situations. When approaching an intersection, clearly mark which lane you intend to ride, ride in the middle of the lane and give a hand signal.

Perhaps obvious, but choosing the right pedals also makes a difference. I would recommend Speedplay Drillium for max grip.
