I've been riding and fixing bikes with varying levels of success since I was knee high to a grasshopper.

These days most of my cycling is urban commuting and road riding, but I do manage to take my duallie out for a blat around the trails every once in a while.

comment What are the features that I should seek in cycling glasses?
@Jader, the title of the question and the actual question seem somewhat different. It seems to me that the title of the question should be something more like "What are the benefits of googles over glasses for cycling?"

comment How do I cycle up steep rocky ground?
@Scott, that could work as well. Without seeing you trying to ride up the hill I couldn't make a judgement as to whether you were in two low a gear, and having to pedal too much and upsetting your balance, or too high a gear, and having issues with the effort and balance. The key part of my response there is "as high a gear as you can manage while still maintaining a reasonable cadence". Try different changes and see what works for you.

I spoke to the bike shop today, and this is what they have suggested. We'll see how well this works, otherwise it may be a change in shifter.

Not sure what you mean by low recycling stocks, but aluminium can be recycled very easily at much less energy cost the original production. Also, aluminium is one of the most common elements in the earth's crust - we're not going to run out of it for a long, long time.
