I started commuting on a mountain bike in 2009 and soon added recreational rides both off- and on-road. I switched to a road bike in 2012, some time after I realized that I love climbing mountain roads.

Is it better to get an entry-level carbon bike or a similarly priced aluminum bike? @AndrewWelch I took a stab at focusing the question a bit more on the cost trade-off issues. If this isn't what you're going for, please feel free to revert. |

Does a three foot passing law actually require drivers to give three feet? By the way, Utah SB0104 passed in 2013, removing the "reasonable and safe distance" langauge: le.utah.gov/~2013/bills/static/SB0104.html |

How can I mitigate the risk of public urination charges on long rides? +1 for an unorthodox but presumably effective solution. I'd like to say that the only thing holding me back is the need to make changes for an upright bike, but I might be reluctant for other reasons, too. :) |

Does exercising solely through cycling cause injuries? You mention doing knee-strengthening exercises. Are you thinking of any specific ones that are particularly applicable to cyclists? |

How can I mitigate the risk of public urination charges on long rides? @DanielRHicks, thanks for the tip. :) I looked it up, and apparently it's been done, although condom catheters seem to be more popular for obvious reasons: psychling1.blogspot.com/2010/12/… |

What weather conditions are slicks suitable for? Welcome to Bicycles.SE. You make some really good points here. I think with a couple of edits, this could be a great answer. Would you be willing to use some formatting to break your answer into a couple of sections to make the organization more obvious? |
