comment Replacing 'cone nuts' on a damaged coaster brake
Thanks Daniel, I also have a fixed hook spanner for a singlespeed lock ring, hadn't expected that there'd be a small enough hook spanner to work with these, but now that they're gone, I'll keep my eye open for a small enough nut! Cheers, accepted & upvoted for a good answer.

Strange that these nuts are so unusual, I've never seen a tool for working with those, but I will replace them with the flat-sided, should we say modern cone-adjustment nuts. (which seems like a better name for them)

I was able to take two further snaps of the nuts cl.ly/1S3w0G3j121z2I0a1M3z and cl.ly/2O3L3W0e0y3j1P3M1X3L. In this case it looks like I'm misusing the term "cone nuts". In the second picture, the third piece on the axel from the left is the "cone nut" using the correct terms.

comment Adjusting the pull/reach of STI levers with top-brakes (Tricross)
Thanks for the comment, I did my best linking the bike (2008 Specialized Tricross). The shop haven't ruined it, it's never been quite to my liking, the interrupter brakes have the perfect pull, but there's a lot to be desired on the STIs. Perhaps it's time for a new set of cables! And some proper shop work.

Thanks @freiheit - the tip "Instead of pulling on the inner cable, interrupter levers activate the brakes by pushing on the cable housing." leaves a little clue - hoping I don't have to get my bars re-taped when I get them done! (Time to try the LBS, I guess)

Whilst looking for a picture of the bars, to link for clarity - I came across the term "Sissy levers" (true enough!) - more info at the blog here - the 3rd inline picture, right hand side: bikemagic.com/bike-reviews/specialized-tricross/4603.html

Thanks for the tip, I also just found this which points to a stiff link - which is more likely as the bike has only been used about 15 times, it's seen less than 50Km in it's whole lifeā€¦ I'm headed downstairs to work on it now, I'll post back when I have an answer, thanks for the suggestion! athenscyclepath.com/wconnchainskips.html
