Wow, and I thought only Trek made drop-bar mountain-ish bike.

@Mσᶎ, lol, true. I was referring to the freehubs and gravitational acceleration.

Pedantic correction story: I have ridden at about 50km/h at about minus 90rpm of the cranks.

Can you count how many rotations of the cranks you do in a minute?

comment Is bicycle Helmet really effective?
@GaryE, Momentum is proportional to speed and represents how things bounce around. Impact energy is what you are probably referring to, representing how things break.

comment Is bicycle Helmet really effective?
Here is one reason against helmets. On long summer XC climbs, the sweat from even a road-style helmet leaks into the eyes and can make riding more dangerous than without it. Having said that: 1) In all other cases, I wear a helmet 2) I have seen on the same climbs people with lost of hair and FF helmets, doing just fine.

comment Experience with GPS trackers - thieves' reactions?
I am saddened to know that things are the same around the world as in second-world Bulgaria. There is a local internet message board, where a 55 page thread lists stolen bikes. Some get returned, 99.9% do not. I (many people) know of several locations to purchase stolen bikes. A friend boasted about purchasing a 1TB HDD for 2BGN.

comment Should I change my chain? It broke once, but its condition seems rather good
@Rider_X, I agree that a chain, that is in tolerance, does not need to be replaced. My answer is "quick and dirty" - if you are not sure, replace the chain. Victor, chain stretch is a real problem. If you ride with a worn chain, you are shortening the life of your chainrings and cogs! Those cost about 10 times more than the chain.

comment Should I change my chain? It broke once, but its condition seems rather good
The only 2 times I had a chain brake were on a bike, which was used for 100km XC rides and I hadn't bother to oil the chain after every puddle of water and mud. The part from my answer, beginning with "secondly" is what the local mechanic explained after the incidents.
