I ride mountain bikes in a variety of styles - commuting, cross-country and trail riding.

comment How to carry a MTB on one's backpack?
@BenediktBauer A diamond frame maybe; is that a type? I am sorry but I don't understand what you mean by "type". Anyway here is a picture.

comment How to decelerate effectively with a rear brake?
I broke my front brake once, and was riding home using my rear brake. Surely enough, the result was "boiling fluid due to excessive use of rear brake downhill". When using only one brake on steep downhills, you should ride slowly, ready to bail at any moment.

comment Saddle getting in place when cornering on MTB - what to do?
In any technical riding, the seat should be low, with or without drop post - so it doesn't solve any problems; it only makes riding more convenient.

@cherouvim Thanks for the link - it's very illustrative on my problem!

comment Is it possible to perform tricks with 100% safety during commuting?
FWIW, I've just seen a biker do just that to get out of the way of a car.

Wow, that was quite the save! I didn't have all of the described components fall out; anyway, installed everything back with your help. Thanks!

comment Tightening a quick release wheel and having one spring
Does the squeaky noise come from the axle or from the brakes? Is it unusually hard to rotate the wheel?

comment Why aren't average speeds computed over distance?
@jimirings One useful definition: calculate the average pace and then calculate its reciprocal

comment Which foot to put forward when coasting or track-standing?
+1 for making me think about it that way, but your example guides me in the opposite direction. When my feet are horizontal, and i suddenly decide to accelerate, for the first 1/8 of a revolution the front foot doesn't provide any force (because of the freewheel, i guess), so maybe i actually have to put my strong foot at the back.

This method works just like specified (magic)!
