comment Is there a reason for brakes to be reversed in bikes with Hydraulic Brakes?
@Starx, Hydraulic brakes depend on an incompressible fluid so air bubbles in the hose can prevent the brakes from working. Unless you have experience bleeding air out of the system, I wouldn't muck with them.

comment Is it safe to ride with one missing chainring bolt?
If your cranks don't work you're walking, but any bike shop should have the bolts. I limped 4 miles back to a bikeshop successfully with 2 missing out of a 5-spider but I wouldn't have ridden it out the next day if the shop had been closed. (I additionally had to ride several miles over cobblestones to reach decent tarmac and was afraid that that would shake more stuff loose and my command of the local language was just not that good.)

comment Is a self cleaning lube enough for chain maintenance?
@meltdownmonk, If you're riding that consistently, then investing in a chain washer as Daniel R. Hicks suggests might be worth it. A chain washer costs less than a new chain.

comment how do you make a chain longer with a simple chain breaker?
Please excuse my ignorance. Can you do this with 10 and 11 spd chains? I don't have personal experience with this, but I've heard anecdotally that some 10 speed chains are too fragile for this and that you should discard the pin and use a master link.

comment Are Velomobiles street legal in the UK?
Does "or cycle having four or more wheels" apply to recumbent bikes or reverse recumbent trike velomobiles? The first linked source seem to indicate that this definition was revamped in 1994.

@DanielRHicks, I asked because his rear derailleur could be bent inwards, lengthening the chainline and causing there to not be enough slack for the chain to fit onto the large chainring. Thanks for letting me know about spelling variants -- I am an American but you're the first I've met who spells it "derailer".
