Is a self cleaning lube enough for chain maintenance? @meltdownmonk, If you're riding that consistently, then investing in a chain washer as Daniel R. Hicks suggests might be worth it. A chain washer costs less than a new chain. |

how do you make a chain longer with a simple chain breaker? Please excuse my ignorance. Can you do this with 10 and 11 spd chains? I don't have personal experience with this, but I've heard anecdotally that some 10 speed chains are too fragile for this and that you should discard the pin and use a master link. |

the derailer is touching chain and it won't let me go past 14 speed supposed to go 21 speeds @DanielRHicks, I asked because his rear derailleur could be bent inwards, lengthening the chainline and causing there to not be enough slack for the chain to fit onto the large chainring. Thanks for letting me know about spelling variants -- I am an American but you're the first I've met who spells it "derailer". |
