How do I change a road bike into a commuter bike? If you currently have drop bars you'll have to buy new shifters and brake levers to make the switch to a flat bar setup. I don't know what is "cheaply" for you, but it will be tough. |

Why is carbon fiber inherently weak? Or is it? @neilfein: The GT Fury and the Santa Cruz V-10 Carbon are downhill racing mountain bikes. They're certainly tough. They are definitely "thicker, heavier, and more expensive." |

What's the definition of a Mixte? "Mixte" is most often used to describe a group of persons (a "mixte" school, a "mixte" kids sports team, etc.) than an object that is for both men a women, but it is most likely used here with a "unisex" sense based on that. I'd give you the badge French-speaker-approved if I could. ;) Disclaimer: I'm a French-Canadian, it might be used differently in France where the term probably comes from. |

Fixed-gear vs single-speed for clipless pedals +1, tackstanding is in fact a basic mountain biking skill and they sure are not fixed. Also, cruising with your freewheel clickin' at full speed is the best feeling in the world. I don't see why you would want to get rid of that. |

What brands of repair stands are sturdy? +1 for the Park stand. Mine's super tough and easy to fold/shrink so I can carry it around. |
