How do I deal with a dog chasing me when I'm touring? If you have pepper spray in a water bottle - remember which one it is ! |

You just had an accident, what's next? If you are an inanimate object can you really feel impotent rage? |

Is it legal to pass a car on the right when that car is turning? I also make sure I stop 2-3 car lengths before the junction so it's clear that the cars can safely turn right. I believe I have a right to be on the road, but there is no need to make life difficult for other users |

Why are there a large number of businesses that do not allow bicycles in the drive through? What's the chance a cyclists is going to super-size? |

how do you make a chain longer with a simple chain breaker? And if you didn't do that you can just take a piece of the offcut chain and use two smart-links/fast-links. s. you might want to cut the existing chain a bit short to take a long bit of spare chain so you don't have two removable links togetjer |

Avoiding being wiped out after work commute? Is Gatorade that much better than say a glass of orange juice + 2 glasses of water? |

Flying with your bike Last time I flew BA they would take a bike (or any sporting equipment) for free - it just counted as one of your bags. So it's worth calling around |

Is it possible to estimate road grade while riding? I have the climbs around here calibrated in "how close to losing my breakfast" (uphill) and "am I going to need clean underwear" (downhill). Admittedly it's not a unit that has caught on with geographers - but it works for me. |

What is different about cycling in London? It's not just the drivers - assume all pedestrians are going to step out in front of you. Especially if they are actually staring at their iPhone while walking |

Why do you think I nearly fell on this turn? Only brake in a straight line and upright - same rule as a motorbike and the same reason |

What do you wish someone had told you before your first commute? @Kibbee - putting the cold wet shorts back on for the trip home isn't nice! |

Rotate or replace tires The traditional reason to rotate them is that a front wheel puncture generally hurts - so you put a new tire on the front and move the older one to the back. Frankly it isn't worth the effort unless you really need to save a couple of $ |
