comment Analysis of Stages high-speed data
Interesting, the ride was indeed on 170mm cranks and only measuring at the left crankarm

@R.Chung Hm, the recording start/stop seemed a bit unpredictable, so I'm actually not certain how it relates to my Garmin recording of the same ride. According to the timestamps, it started at the left side of this graph (selected region selected to show the cadence Y axis scale), but it lines up better this this part (which roughly lines up with the Garmin lap markers I added trying to sync the two)

comment Why the penny-farthing?
"Without a drivechain the only option is pedals connected directly to a wheel" - what about gears without a chain? (I guess it'd be hard to make a practical structure rigid enough to not skip under load?)

@user95786 That number sounds plausible enough - I wouldn't worry about it.. It is difficult to draw meaningful comparison from two different people's power-meter numbers - there are a lot of factors to consider

comment Reason behind the Tour Down Under “People's Choice Classic”
Ahh, interesting.. Matching the distance in 2004 seems to explain it (and also why I came across many races of varying durations in finding similar races) - thanks!

comment How long do Garmin's cycling GPS devices take to get an initial GPS lock?
The lock procedure is quite complicated, and can vary the lock time a lot.. but where I'd expect my Garmin Edge 500 (GPS only) to lock in about 20-30 seconds, I'd expect my Edge 510 (GPS+GLONASS) to take around 5-10 seconds.

comment Speed and comfort of a racing bicycle?
There's video of Guy Martin riding that bike at 181km/h - youtube.com/watch?v=wT0eJXtrwHg - it is a custom built bike, towed to get up to speed, then riding very close behind a modified truck.. So by no means a standard racing bike!
