comment Safety vests: Yellow vs. Orange?
Here's the actual graph of cone-cell response. The eye is definitely most sensitive to green parts of the spectrum, but squishy-human-related-stuff is never that straight forward, nor is light. E.g most lighting you will encounter (i.e not lasers) will be spread over the entire visible spectrum (like this), and materials/colours vary widely in how they reflect this (meaning fabric that is "bright" under sunlight might be almost invisible under streetlight)

comment DIY computational fluid dynamics for aerodynamics?
@freiheit My main question is "Could there be any worthwhile insights gained from this", which I think could have a good objective answer from someone who has attempted this before. Edited the question slightly - does it seem any better? I'm not totally sure how to word my question in a way that seems less chatty/discussion'y

comment Velodrome atmospheric conditions
@R.Chung Hm, good point.. but shouldn't matter much in this case, right? I guess the rolling resistance would be a constant value added to the required-power, and the default barometric-pressure/humidity values are fine and arbitrary (without knowing the "Olympic mandated" values)

comment What is a reasonable speed for long distances on a bike?
@mattnz good point, it was on different bikes, but they are all comparable (two road bikes, and a hybrid which has road tyres) - other factors caused far more noticeable variance

comment Is it possible to estimate road grade while riding?
I wonder how accurate it'd be if you attached the iPhone with a bike-mount, and zero'd the inclinometer application on a known-flat surface (with a spirit level, say)
