comment How to protect rear derailleur while mountain biking?
Thanks for the info. I'm working right now, but I will post a photo when I get back. My derailleur has been bent about every axis, and I've never had it properly fixed. It doesn't look too bad at first glance, but it has trouble even keeping the chain on its little gears.

Lol. I had to laugh at the video on the site. But I do indeed see how they could be useful for older people who do not want to deal with shifting gears.

This is indeed my first build. I currently ride a pre-made road bike. I've replaced many of the parts, but always with the equivalent. I've never gotten creative. I thought I might be able to this time. I really just want to make a fast, light bike. Thank you for your answer - it definitely got me thinking in a different direction then I was!
