comment How does increased upper-body strength affect riding, and which muscles make the biggest difference?
@PeteH I know that, and that's why I'm asking if improving upper body strength will affect cycling, not if cycling will improve upper body strength.

comment What's the difference between All-Mountain, Cross Country, Freeride, Downhill bikes?
And it's going to be different, for different people. For example, I have a bike with 160mm in the back and 170mm in the front. It's 1x9, and I use it for everything from AM to Freeride. But I only weigh 140lb, so I don't need a lot of travel.

comment Why so much hate for presta valve caps?
@alex, there's no o-ring because there's two layers to the rim, and they are completely sealed from each other. The outside has all the spokes, so it's not air tight anyway.

@andy256 It's just a really beefy nut. It came with the wheel. I guess Easton thought it would be nice to include a beefy nut with their $500 wheel. xD

comment How to protect rear derailleur while mountain biking?
Thanks for the info. I'm working right now, but I will post a photo when I get back. My derailleur has been bent about every axis, and I've never had it properly fixed. It doesn't look too bad at first glance, but it has trouble even keeping the chain on its little gears.

comment Is there such thing as an automatic transmission for bikes?
Lol. I had to laugh at the video on the site. But I do indeed see how they could be useful for older people who do not want to deal with shifting gears.
