Currently working toward a PhD focusing on computational data analysis with the Gravitational Wave Group in Birmingham, UK.

Beyond coding and science, I ride my bikes competitively in and around the West Midlands in the UK. I ride for the RST Sport time trial team and specialise in hill climbs.

@PeteH Yes, but in my experience (admittedly mostly with road group sets) the incompatibilities tend to be at the back of the drivetrain rather than the front. I've never had any problems mixing various flavours of 9sp and 10sp Shimano components at the front of the drivetrain on my road bikes, so long as the rear end is set up properly (which it is, in this case). But then, maybe I've just been lucky :)

Actually, it seems more sensible to post this as a new question: bicycles.stackexchange.com/questions/28447/…

Thanks – this is really helpful. Another question, if you don't mind: according to the tech docs, the M665 chainset isn't 10-speed compatible (although the M660 is). Would this be down to the chainrings being too wide?

comment Recessed brake pivot nut stuck in carbon fork
The carbon doesn't rust, but the nut itself is steel I think, so there might still be hope...
