Good Quality Road Platform Pedals? And I'll say it again: If you don't want to use clipless pedals, don't feel pressured into doing so. There is nothing wrong with using flats. |

How to ride to work without sweating? An electric bike might be an alternative. It helps you up the hills, and I have heard it is popular for business people in Denmark who doesn't want to be sweaty either. |

What is the difference between race/road and cx bikes? I think there is an important distinction between the racing cyclocross bikes and the commuter cyclocross bikes. Several brands have started making cyclocross bikes which are less racey and more like a fast touring bike, and which are meant for commuting and thus have a more relaxed geometry and fittings for fenders. One example is the Trek CrossRip. |

Why are single-speed bikes with disc brakes hard to find? chainreactioncycles.com is claiming to be the largest cycling store in the world, and they are huge and the default go-to store in Europe atleast. I think most Vitus bikes are generally seen to be decent for the price, but I have no idea about the quality of that particular model. It is cheap, but made of hi-ten steel which has a bit of an unfortunate reputation. |

Minimum mountain groupset hard enough to resist abuse @mattnz Yes, it depends of course, but these days you can get a good full suspension for around $2000. And when you hit the point of diminishing returns on quality vs. weight, then the next "logical" upgrade is to go full suspension. |

Minimum mountain groupset hard enough to resist abuse I would say that SLX is more of the "sweat spot" in terms of mountain bike groupsets than XT is. You get essentially the same performance, a bit more weight, but at a lower price. If a few more grams does not give you sleepless nights then you can just aswell buy SLX. |

Minimum mountain groupset hard enough to resist abuse @mattnz I did not recommend a second hand FS either. The OP does not mention any budget, so what he can and can not afford is still unknown. If he is able to save up the money for a decent FS then that will probably bring a lot more cycling happiness than a hard tail, unless he is racing or similar. |

Minimum mountain groupset hard enough to resist abuse Derailleurs and such are usually not seen as the most important think to upgrade on a mountain bike (meaning that they do not provide that much of a difference to the ride). You will get more out of a better frame, fork, or wheels. If you have a low end mountainbike it is almost certainly better to ride what you have and instead save the money for a new and better bike later. Saving up and buying a good full-suspension bicycle provides a pleasure like no other. :) |

walkable clipless pedal shoe to replace normal shoe? Regarding your claim that there is efficency benefits to using clipless pedals, the science seems to say that there is none. bicycles.stackexchange.com/questions/14059/… If efficency is the only concern then you might as well use normal walking shoes. Is there such a thing as a cyclist philosophy? I think one could argue that one of the biggest "culture gaps" among cyclists are between the roadies and the mountain bikers. While the roadies exalt such virtues as endurance, camaraderie, and overcoming "the suffering", they are also mocked for being a bit vain and having the whole "fashion police" thing. While mountain bikers are usually made up of more relaxed people bobbing merrily around the forest on full suspension bikes, while taking long breaks for candy eating. |

How to get my feet out of SPD pedals? If you are not comfortable with using SPD pedals there is no shame in using flate pedals instead. Don't let bike shops, SPD enthusiasts or internet forums convince you to use a pedal interface you are not comfortable with. |
