I'm a professional PHP programmer with almost a decade of professional experience and considerably more as a hobbyist programmer. I've also had some exposure to Java, Object Pascal and am interested in learning objective C
I've started work on a PHP framework, though it's still at a very early stage and not yet really useful. The current source is available on GitHub.
I've also begun development of a CSS3 elastic grid for use on my own projects and had published that on GitHub as well.

Who has right of way at a staggered crossroad BTW, on a somewhat related topic, have you seen the trailers on the BBC for that docu "War on Britain's roads"? I'm certainly going to make a point of watching it! |

Who has right of way at a staggered crossroad Sounds like you had a run-in with a very immature man (and it almost always is a man who pulls crap like that). I hope you got his license number. |

Cycling on snow in extreme freezing conditions: will my bike break? I'd be more worried about whether the bike would brake rather than break! :) |

What can I do to keep my knees warm? I'm told that recumbent bikes are a lot easier on the knees than traditional bikes, though they're not really suited to hilly regions. |

Why are hand-built wheels considered to be better than machine-built wheels? Same reason anything hand-made gets lauded as being superior, perceived craftsmanship. |

What kind of bicycles do they ride in the Tour de France? That's one sweet looking bike. |

Winter commuting - how to keep warm? Pedal harder. :) |

Is a headlight required to emit light to the sides? Sounds like a slightly silly law to me! Isn't there a risk of unfocused headlamps (on any kind of vehicle) dazzling people around them? |

Touching the front wheel with my foot when turning That certainly shouldn't be happening if she's riding the bike properly. I'm actually struggling to imagine how this is even possible, unless the bike has a ridiculously short wheelbase, she's using her ankles to pedal instead of the balls of her feet, and she has unusually large feet. |

Benefits of toe grips/toe straps Clipless for mountain biking? Isn't that the one type of riding when being able to take your foot off the pedal without notice is most important? |

Which kind of tube valve is the best? Schrader valves are compatible with car tire pumps (schrader +) |

Should I fight a ticket I got for riding my bicycle in a crosswalk? If the OP was riding over the crossing then he was a vehicle and in breach of traffic laws. If he was walking the bike across then he was a pedestrian and provided the light was green when he started crossing is innocent of any infractions. However, it's the OP's word against the driver's unless photographic evidence comes to light. |

How much of a difference will I notice going from a Mountain bike to a road bike? Regarding your second paragraph, I'd say it depends on the quality of the roads where you live. Where I live the roads are TERRIBLE! Full of potholes, drain covers and grates (the latter of which tend to sink a bit into the road surface crating potholes with cast iron bottoms), gashes that tend to suck narrow tires into them, bare cobblestones, etc. I don't know if a road bike wheel would last long against all that. Even my MTB has picked up a few bent spokes after only a few months of it. |

How much of a difference will I notice going from a Mountain bike to a road bike? @kaz As cars built for racing tend to have very stiff suspension with very little travel I think it's safe to assume that they do. |

How can I warm up/cook food while cycling? Concentrating on not being killed by the Audi drivers is hard enough without duct taping a George Foreman grill to your handlebars as well. |

Did I buy the wrong mountain bike? Watching the XC mountain biking events from the Olympics seemed to suggest that the pros actually prefer hardtails with no rear suspension at all, so travel isn't everything. |

Why don't cyclists wear all-encompassing motorcycle-style helmets? I'd say ears are more important in some circumstances, as your can only see where you're looking but you can hear everything, including the Audi/BMW/White Van driver barrelling up behind you with no intention of giving you any clearance when they pass you. |

Optimal full-suspension design for mountain bikes? The most efficient, strongest, most durable, stiffest and lightest suspension is no suspension at all :) |

Should I get wider tyres/tires for my tour if I'm not going to go off-road? Depends on the quality of the road surface where you're doing most of your cycling, I'd say. Where I live the roads are terrible, they're all patches and potholes and dug up regions where workmen have been fixing pipes or cables, and are deeply rutted in places, and in some places are even just cobblestones. I dare not ride a road or hybrid bike on that, even a full mountain bike's wheels have been knocked slightly out of true by it. Wider tires are less likely to get sucked into ruts or gashes in the road surface. |

Chain skipping on some gears Checking my local bike shop parts list suggests a set of rear cogs is about 10x the price of a new chain. That's expensive enough for me. :) |
