Been working in IT since 1998, graduated University in 2003 and in 4 short years gone from Junior Dev to Head of Application Services. I've got a keen interest in all things web (.Net, CSS, xHTML, AJAX, ECMAScript) and do my best to keep on top of things.

Why does my bike make a noise when I pedal hard? is it the derailleiur cable pinging against the seat tube? sometimes mine does that when my leg/crank catches it on the way past |

Competing against a 10 Speed Bike with 7 Speed bike? How old is your bike? wheels? bearings? what tyres do you have? what psi are they inflated to? are they all in good order? is your gearing the same as his? less rolling resistance = faster; the fresher may just have had much less resistance than you. |

Can I use normal grease for a car on the surface of carbon bike? WD-40 is not a lubricant or grease, it may leave a slippery residue but its definitely not for lubricating. its a Water Dispersal agent. |

Disk brakes severely reduced in power after replacing bearings Acetone can leave an oily residue, best to buy specific brake cleaner from any auto/hardware shop or rubbing alcohol. |

Why/How should I bed in disc brake pads? bedding in pads -whether on a car, motorbike or bicycle should be done with firm pressure not slamming them on. |

Bicycle innovations in the pipeline? there can be more than one answer, maybe changing this to a community wiki would work better? |

Why don't cyclists wear all-encompassing motorcycle-style helmets? Your vision is limited when wearing a motorbike helmet but when I am on my motorbike I can easily hear cars/vans approaching behind me (i guess it depends on the quality of the helmet), the limited field of view is also why in the UK you are taught "Lifesaver" checks - which really should be used when riding bicycles too. |
