exploding inner tubes Do you have rim strips? I think you should have them no matter that your tires already have "ears". |

Disabling back-pedal brake How often (and why?!) are you backpedalling while riding, so that the coaster brake would be an obstacle? |

How to avoid riding on a gravel on the road sides? + Riding through traffic lights Quite similar, Serbia. We are allowed to use 1m from the curb (however, the law allows us to move further away when it's "not safe" or something similarly vague). Luckily (?!) the law is not enforced thoroughly over here, so some people claim the lane, especially ones who can ride fast. |

Is it worth time to rebuild an old steel frame? You should specify the parts you have on that bike (type of bottom bracket, wheel size etc), or put some pictures. |

Is it legal for me to ride a bicycle on the pavement (sidewalk)? Out of curiosity, what roads do you consider deadly? Anything that has 50km/h or below speed limit should be OK to cycle. |

How to repair shifter housing Such shifters shouldn't be more than 10-20 EUR used. Not sure if it is worth fixing them at all. I would ride with them as is, and when they show any sign of malfunction (and even if they fail completely, which is not likely, it couldn't make you fall), I'd replace them with similar used ones. |

Is it OK to use coffee or other drinks to clean road rash? You say "drunk" as if it is something bad. Isn't alcohol a powerful disinfectant? (Joking, of course, I guess alcohol doesn't make it from the blood to the urine.) |

Protecting beater bicycle from scratches and rust @DavorinRuševljan: That's the price in US, I guess. Over here in Serbia you can have the same job for under 50EUR, I guess the prices are similar in Croatia. Basic sanding and painting is even less. |

Where to mount a headlight if the handlebar is obscured by a basket Hey, thanks for the answer and for the ASCII effort! I like the third suggestion, the basket is even slightly slanted forward, so no need for angle adjustment. The only problem would be removing and putting back the light (when leaving the bicycle somewhere). Perhaps I should buy the cheapest and just forget about it. :) |

Checking spoke tension without specialized tools This sounds suitable if you have perfectly sized spokes. In my case, my spokes aren't even the same length (don't ask), so I can't rely on how much of the nipple length left free. |

Checking spoke tension without specialized tools Yep, I am an amateur musician, I tune my guitars by ear (and I have a quartz tuner too), but I noticed that even with newly bought wheels the tones aren't the same. Also, when tuning instruments, one can hear the frequency clearly, which is not the case with spokes, as they are crossed and both vibrate when one is plucked. However, it does provide a rough reference. |
