How can I prevent cars from passing me too closely? First, and most important, by "claiming the lane" you are not blocking traffic. You are merely slowing it down. Also, the OP asked about preventing dangerous overtaking. Riding in the middle of the lane is one of the ways to do this: if there's no space to safely overtake, by claiming the lane you are making the drivers behind aware of that. Of course, when you see that they can safely overtake, you move to the right to allow them to. |

How can I prevent cars from passing me too closely? @hagubear: What prevents the driver overtaking him politely if he is riding in the lane centre? |

How do I adjust my 7-speed Shimano SIS indexed shifter not to miss out one of the cogs? Are you sure that the cable is properly inserted into the shifter? |

What could be the reason for chain skipping No luck yet. Still skips on the smallest sprocket, even after playing with the limit screw. Next stop: replacing the freewheel (I have a spare one). |

What could be the reason for chain skipping No stiff links. Also, the chain length is OK. It seems that the problem is in the derailer high limit. I will be able to confirm during the weekend. :) |

What could be the reason for chain skipping The same problem existed with the previous derailer, which I replaced because its topmost spring was broken and it couldn't properly tighten the chain, I thought that was the cause of skipping. So I doubt it's the derailer problem. Also, I did notice that the chain is a bit slack. And this derailer doesn't have B-screw that I could tighten it a bit. |

What could be the reason for chain skipping It's a freewheel, not a freehub. Sorry. |

Riding in nice office/casual clothes? Do you sweat the same while walking? In some circumstances, cycling isn't any harder than that. |

exploding inner tubes Do you have rim strips? I think you should have them no matter that your tires already have "ears". |

Disabling back-pedal brake How often (and why?!) are you backpedalling while riding, so that the coaster brake would be an obstacle? |

How to avoid riding on a gravel on the road sides? + Riding through traffic lights Quite similar, Serbia. We are allowed to use 1m from the curb (however, the law allows us to move further away when it's "not safe" or something similarly vague). Luckily (?!) the law is not enforced thoroughly over here, so some people claim the lane, especially ones who can ride fast. |
