comment Light for Tubus rear rack
I second the recommendation for the B&M Toplight Linetec. Uses a single AA battery and seems to last for ages. The design is meant to give larger lit area so judging the distance to you is easier for other roads users.

Added 'identify-this-bike' tag. If you could furnish your question with a picture, that would help too

comment Why is a tandem harder to ride uphill than a single rider bike?
@andy256. I work with the brother one of the pilots who finished in the medals riding tandem at the CwG, so I may be able to ask his opinion at some point.

@andy256. Mmm, it is hard to make comparisons. I've searched but can't find solo 1km TT results for the pilots in that list, which may be the nearest thing, although their stokers may be slower than them. Ideally you'd need to clone a rider and compare their tandem time with their solo.

@andy256. The commonwealth games had a 1km TT on tandem, although it is a "para" event, so may be less competitive? Times were similar:-en.wikipedia.org/wiki/… and en.wikipedia.org/wiki/…

David is right. Two identical riders have double the power on a tandem, but LESS than double the air resistance. Lower drag is a tandem's real advantage.

No, the usual set up of a tandem is pedalling in unison or in phase. sheldonbrown.com/synchain.html#phase. However, you are right that rocking the bike side to side is harder.

Perhaps blue threadlocker on the bolts would help. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thread-locking_fluid
