comment 26 X 1.75 front and 26 X 2.0 rear tyre?
As long as it fits the rim and fits in the frame I don't think there will be problems

@PeteH I think I'll try to push the blame to manufacturer then, feels like the shop is more likely to be nice if I don't accuse them...

@blam I mean the chain seized when I reinserted links, so I just bought a new chain and made it the right length from the beginning. The new chain then snapped yesterday evening.

@Batman Same size cassette, chain was attached correctly by me, and used the quicklinks. Break in the chain was in a regular link, just two links from the quicklink. So seems probably just bad luck...

@Blam I replaced the whole chain after attempting to reinsert links, the chain seized. It's in the comments of the above link

comment Will loose handlebars result in slower riding?
It would certainly slow you down if you had hit even the tiniest bump or had to make any sudden manoeuvres - it's hard to go quickly when laying on the road asking what the hell just happened to your handlebars! ;) Always make sure to do some quick checks (brakes, steering, tyre pressure...bicycles.stackexchange.com/questions/2161/pre-ride-checks) of the bike before a ride

FYI I added more links back in but it made the reconnected link seize up so I took the cowards option and went to the store... Once the chain was on (and the correct length) I found discovered the cassette was f'd up and needs replacing too, I have only two even remotely useable cogs left! Lesson learnt on regular chain replacement!!!

Thanks, the old chain was very worn (beyond 1%) so very stretched so I didn't trust that for measurements. So I'll go with adding back some of the links.

@Kibbee it is a Campagnolo bottle cage though. Therefore it allows the overweight & overpaid mamil on the bike which is adorned in a $100 cage the right look down judgementally upon any young whippersnapper with a plastic or aluminium cage, while said mamil desperately tries to cling on to said whippersnapper's back wheel... therefore it's good value ;)

So slightly lighter, same ride and stiffness qualities, higher price tag - all thanks to some different carbon fibre technology, and a very slightly different paint job. Thanks for the answer.
