comment “Footprint” of the Park Tool PCS 9 stand
@kibble yeah I normally pop the front wheel off - the thinking with the stand was I could rotate it (as if the bike is pointing upwards sort of)

comment Safety data: Which is safer, head/tail lights which blink or emit a steady beam?
I was riding Vätternrundan two years back starting at midnight - the guy in front of me had a flashing rear light, made it near impossible to judge distance to his back wheel (making it very dangerous). So just to chip in (on this very old post) I'd say never use blinkers in a group ride!

There are, of course, other places I can go to wash my bike, like the car park (I could even just tie it to a rope and throw it in the river, but that would be quite inconvenient). I live on the third floor of my building with no elevator and no outside tap to rinse with = lots of walking up and down stairs and having to leave my bike outside unattended. I'm planning to put the stand in the bath because it makes it easier to get the bike in to a workable position. Besides, I could do with a work stand anyway.

comment Replaced chain, bike makes grinding noise?
Do you know how to measure a chain to the right length? and how to pick the right width (often sold as 9 speed, 10 speed ...) @Lindsay

comment Replaced chain, bike makes grinding noise?
Despite the dozens of chains I've replaced I always end up getting confused round the derailleur!

comment Can I use Edge 510 as an indoor trainer computer
Just low, it was saying the wheel was doing ~8-10 km/h, I know its more than that (also ran an old cycling computer with the right wheel size set and it read 25-30 km/h, I just need to set the wheel size)

(could you post some pictures of the rear derailleur and drivetrain?)
