comment Non U-Lock that can be mounted for carrying?
I wouldn't lump the cable locks with the heavy chains. Since the chain doesn't need the metal to be flexible, it can be made from much harder and stronger steel than cables. The weakest part in chain locks is usually the lock itself, and if you get a tiny U-lock, that's pretty secure. Might be as heavy as your bike, but it is much better than a cable.

Cable locks take about 5 seconds to cut with a small tool, I wouldn't lock anything I care about with one of those.

Might also be worth noting that since it folds so small, it might fit in much more places than even the smallest U-locks.

comment Why are battery-powered lights so popular?
I actually have 2 sets of lights for 3 bikes - all the bikes have mounts for the lights installed, so depending on what I'm riding that day, I can just toss the lights on that bike. No need to readjust the mounts.

comment Safety data: Which is safer, head/tail lights which blink or emit a steady beam?
I'm not sure I'd say "usually" - I think in most places in the US where a light is required, a blinking light counts as well.

comment Terminology index - a list of bike part names and cycling concepts
It's already the top question in the 'faq' tab, on the questions page. Not sure if there's a way to 'feature' a question.

comment How much does bike price correspond with maintenance needs?
Heh, fair - I usually take it in every few months (3-4 or so). My daily commute is about 15mi, plus whatever else I ride around town for errands and friends. My routine stuff that I do is clean the chain deeply, adjust the brakes and derailleurs.
