@mattnz That part is simple. I haven't ignored BSOs, I just don't class them as bikes. To boil down what I'm saying: The monetary difference between buying a good bike and the components off a good bike is very slim. That gets even slimmer when you factor in the time and end result.

Many road bikes are fitted with stems that point slightly down. A cheaper solution for those people is to just "flip" the stem so it points up. By no means guarantees a fit but it's a good place to start. However it looks like the Rockrider 340's is pointing up by default. I guess it all comes down to how yours was assembled.

comment How to seamlessly upload to Strava after a ride using a Garmin Edge 500?
Strongly advocate just using phones. The battery issue can be sidestepped. 10-20Ah USB-outlet batteries exist and are easy to stow away (eg under saddle, USB cable tied to frame) without adding much weight, and will give an extra 10+ hours of full-on GPS.

@Unsliced Yes, it was a pointed safety comment but one that doubles to find out what sort of isolation the OP is putting themselves in. If you're going to ride to music, you might as well be on a trainer. I ride because I want to be experiencing the outdoors. Perhaps neither you or the OP are as fickle as me but I really find SQUIRREL!
