the Salsa Fargo looks really interesting, but I don't understand the weird handlebars and it looks like a mountain bike other than that.

I'm open to ideas for frames. I was looking at something like the voodoo bizango. I would like to find a really simple steel mtb frame thats not too pricey.

comment My crankset stops the pedals from turning when I tighten it onto the bottom bracket
yes the problem is also unclear. the bevelled area around where the axel fits on the crank is binding with the bb shell black area in the photo, which is causing it to stop going round. I took the crank off to change it for a different crank and now I want ot put it back again. I've done nothing to the BB bearings as far as I can remember.

looking at the pic above the housing of the bb on the crank size is quite wide.

comment Why do full suspension bikes seem to be on average £1000 more expensive than hardtails?
pivots are not expensive per se. 'sometimes has carbon chainstays' - does the bike I mention have them? internal cable routing is not expensive, and have been in existence for decades, 'it cannot aford to we heavy, so it has to be as light as possible'- surely as any bike its better to be lighter? same with lateral flex point. 'it aims customers who are willing to pay more' - probably most valid point.

comment Should cheap suspension forks be oiled often?
Don't put random oil on a suspension fork. If it has oil inside it, the oil you put on will just mix with it and create a hybrid useless gunge. And definitely don't put WD40 on it.

Hi @PeteH - great answer - thanks. I will be riding in varied condition but it will be often bright sun. Any recommendations based on this?

frame cost is not the same as frame price - otherwise good other points.

comment How can I fix panniers that have got holes in
I used this industrial strength glue with large patches of leather which worked brilliantly, so the glue would have to glue leather onto plastic.

They are made of a plastic material so this method won't work.

comment What kind of road tyres should I go for winter commuting?
Commuting and road riding are different as commuting tends to be more about getting a job done whereas road riding in general could be competition or longer rides etc.
