comment Why do full suspension bikes seem to be on average £1000 more expensive than hardtails?
pivots are not expensive per se. 'sometimes has carbon chainstays' - does the bike I mention have them? internal cable routing is not expensive, and have been in existence for decades, 'it cannot aford to we heavy, so it has to be as light as possible'- surely as any bike its better to be lighter? same with lateral flex point. 'it aims customers who are willing to pay more' - probably most valid point.

comment Should cheap suspension forks be oiled often?
Don't put random oil on a suspension fork. If it has oil inside it, the oil you put on will just mix with it and create a hybrid useless gunge. And definitely don't put WD40 on it.

Hi @PeteH - great answer - thanks. I will be riding in varied condition but it will be often bright sun. Any recommendations based on this?

frame cost is not the same as frame price - otherwise good other points.

comment How can I fix panniers that have got holes in
I used this industrial strength glue with large patches of leather which worked brilliantly, so the glue would have to glue leather onto plastic.

They are made of a plastic material so this method won't work.

comment What kind of road tyres should I go for winter commuting?
Commuting and road riding are different as commuting tends to be more about getting a job done whereas road riding in general could be competition or longer rides etc.

in my experience no tyre on ice is that good and snow eventually compacts to ice. Often there will be ice under the snow, so its a bit of a gamble.Knobly mtb tyres are better than slicks (obviously) and I've heard from a reliable source that with spikes you can cycle to the arctic circle. A little bit of grip is better than nothing or is there really nothing in it for road tyres other than being more careful.

hmmmm.... completely opposing viewpoints there. I would have been inclined to agree but these days I would agree with Benedikt because of the time it takes to break the bike down and sell everything individually.

comment Upgrading my cockpit- brakes, stem and bars for longer reach
I can't put the seat backwards because it doesn't suit my riding style. I prefer to have it right forward and be more over the bb
