What to do about hypothermia on a long ride? Sounds like you have a bit of terminal burrowing (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terminal_burrowing). |

What to do about hypothermia on a long ride? good point about head heat loss. Our scalp blood vessels don't vasoconstrict when we get cold, presumably because regulating brain temperature is so important. |

How can I get started building a bicycle? Most tasks when building a new bike are the same things you'd do while repairing a bike, especially overhauling or replacing a component. So practice there. |

I often get a sore neck when riding. How can I adjust the setup of my bike to help prevent this happening? Get someone to take a picture of you riding by, in profile. |

How do you decide your route to commute to work? I love to go through parking lots to avoid traffic. As you get to know the route by bike, you'll start to see other options. |

Should spoke tension be measured before or after adding a tube and tire? Is it important to measure spoke tension within 10kg? |

Source an internal/hub derailleur for Bianchi Bergamo You can get away with just 9 speeds on the rear, and no derailleur on the front, even with heavy loads, especially if you choose to space the gears wide apart. I do this and pull a trailer with my twins in it, in a hilly part of the world. Total weight of bike + trailer + people = 450lbs. However, I don't ride long distances, my legs are strong, and I often talk myself out of doing it because it's hard. If you're somewhere flat, it's way easier. |

Source an internal/hub derailleur for Bianchi Bergamo You can true against a brake pad. Also, consider fatter tires with lower pressure - that would soften the blows on your wheel. Even when I was 290 lbs, I never broke a spoke (not that I biked a lot miles). |

Source an internal/hub derailleur for Bianchi Bergamo You could just learn to replace a broken spoke. You'd need the right spokes, the right nipple wrench, and a freewheel tool. |

How do I efficiently shift gears on a road bike with downtube shifters? What exactly is your concern? Is it the fact that you can't reach the shifter with your hands on the bars? Or the fact that it's not indexed? Or something else? |
