@mgb accidental upvote on comment... Meant to agree with freiheit. WD40 does not leave any protective coating behind. I was hoping for something to coat and protect since I have reasonably harsh Canadian weather to deal with.

I always choose the downhill route, there and back.

comment Best bike lock
This ultimately relies on a cable to prevent somebody from simply walking away with your bike or throwing it in the back of a truck, which makes it pretty useless in my opinion.

Consider reading up on interval training. "Slow pace for a long time" and "high pace for a short time" are not your only (or best) options.

As an aside, I have some fairly thick Wet Ride chain oil for winter cycling; is this an appropriate oil to use for the seat post?

Just had the snowiest day in our city's history, going to try my hand at this tonight. Hopefully, come tomorrow morning, I'll have a functional bike and not two ruined tires :)

comment How do I remove rust from my seat tube?
It's meant to be used inside the frame? It's not going to serve as a lubricant and cause my seat post to slip down inside the seat tube when jarred?

+1 for the advice on putting something between the forks/stays to keep them from getting squished. Wouldn't have thought of that.

@Ian Agree with @freiheit. It's no more dangerous than a speedometer or GPS.
