comment Can I use WD-40 on my bike?
Not suitable for lubricating moving parts, but WD40 sprayed on a rag is good for cleaning grime off your frame.

Weight shouldn't really be your chief concern. Reliability is what you need to worry about.

comment Minimal effort chain cleaning
The parktool (and most chain cleaners I've seen) require significant slack in the chain as provided by a derailleur. It couldn't be used on a fixie/single-speed where the chain was taut.

You might be using too thin a lube. You should pick up something specifically meant for winter riding, like whitelightningco.com/products/wet-ride.htm

This. You need a cobbler. There's really nothing you can do personally that won't be destroyed the first few times you walk on it.

Oh, this is funny. I actually wound up buying this light prior to reading this answer. Unfortunately it failed, the screw ripped the metal mount out of the plastic backing on the light.

Can't really recommend this if you ride on the road. Peripheral vision is pretty important.

comment Why choose a traditional frame over an aerodynamically streamlined frame?
Hey, don't jump all over me, I'm completely uninvested in your argument. All I know is I read "how could 'a placebo effect' alter the recorded speed and power?" which would seem to indicate two separate measurements which could easily be affected by false believe in a placebo. I only mentioned them as "the metrics" because you mentioned them as the metrics. If you're saying that the power was the same but the speed increased, that wouldn't seem to be as easily linked to a placebo effect.
