Is there any reason to keep original drive-train components together until they can all be replaced? Sound advice. Will pick up a new chain next week, thanks. |

Is there any reason to keep original drive-train components together until they can all be replaced? The bike is about 4 months old, and has been getting between 150 and 200km/week of usage. He did use a gauge, and told me the chain had much more wear than it should for a bike only ~4 months old. I'm trying to drag this out of memory, but the thing read "twice" what it should, give or take. They chalked it up to insufficient cleaning/oiling of the chain. When I asked if the chain should just be replaced, he told me the above about not mixing and matching old/new components in the drive train. |

Is it a good idea to get a narrower front tire and a wider rear tire on a road bike? Grammer, removed random bolding |

Why is it safer to bike with traffic, instead of facing oncoming cars? @nhinkle No, I really did mean "hellish plane". I'm talking "planes of existence" here, my use of "plane" over "plain" was intentional and correct. |

Why is it safer to bike with traffic, instead of facing oncoming cars? What hellish nightmare plane do you live on, where people are actually considering this? Somewhere in North America, or in the UK? I can't believe any reasonable person could take up this idea. |

Should a link opened/closed by a chain-breaker be stiff afterwards? Awesome, and somewhat obvious when you think about the mechanics of what's going on I guess. Will accept as soon as I can test this out, but I suspect you're right. |
